Responsible sourcing of aluminum is a central component on our path to a sustainable supply chain. Our vision is to fundamentally transform aluminum production in line with social requirements – with a focus on production and products, resources and suppliers, employees and society as well as ecosystems.
We rely on long-term partnerships with our suppliers – on an equal footing and with shared values. Because sustainable success only comes from working together.
Duty of care and risk avoidance
We evaluate our aluminum suppliers annually in accordance with the international OECD guidelines for responsible supply chains of minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas. The aim is to consistently exclude any involvement in armed conflicts or human rights violations – because we have zero tolerance for this.
Use of low-carbon primary aluminium from hydropower and geothermal energy to minimize CO₂e emissions in the manufacturing process.
Use of process scrap from our own remelting plant and purchase of recycled aluminum produced close to our production sites – for short transport routes and lower energy consumption.
Stable and reliable supply of raw materials as the basis of our supply chains.
Certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 14025, ISO 14064, ISO 50001, IATF 16949.
Involvement in relevant organizations, e.g. ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative), A|U|F e.V., Metalle pro Klima, Cradle-to-Cradle Certified®, Circular Valley.
Transparent processes and objective evaluation criteria
All new suppliers of core materials relevant to production are systematically checked for quality and environmental criteria. We have been using EcoVadis for the structured sustainability assessment of our suppliers since 2022:
