In-house aluminium recycling
Unconditional quality meets sustainable production: in our remelting plant, we process scrap to produce new billets. In this way, we make a decisive contribution to sustainability and climate protection – and have been doing so for more than 50 years.

Recycling in the in-house remelting plant
Within the apt Group, we operate our own foundry for recycling process scrap. These are recycled in-house and remelted into billets before being fed back into our manufacturing process. Strict quality management ensures that the round bars produced meet the highest quality requirements. Neither the alloy composition nor the material properties of these round bars are inferior to those made from primary-produced aluminium. We can recycle up to 18,000 tons of aluminium every year.
Advantages of in-house recycling at apt
- Recycled quality like primary aluminium
Thanks to quality management, our recycled aluminium meets the highest standards. - Basis for CO₂-free production
Our certified CO₂ footprint is well below the industry average. - Sustainable value chain
Thanks to our aluminium recycling, we also contribute to a sustainable value chain for our customers.
Recycling for more sustainability
Thanks to our strong focus on recycling aluminium, we make a decisive contribution to sustainability and climate protection. Up to 18,000 tons of aluminium are recycled in our remelting plant every year. That involves process scrap, which is remelted into billets and which we can use directly for resource-saving further processing.
When purchasing raw materials, we rely exclusively on low-carbon aluminium
(< 4 t CO₂e / t Al), which we obtain from selected suppliers in Iceland and Norway as well as from external recycling plants.
The figures prove our commitment to climate protection. Our certified C0₂ footprint for the extrusion sites is well below the industry average. To provide transparent information about this, we have been publishing an annual sustainability report since 2021.
