The apt Group is supplying aluminum profiles for a pioneering project in the field of medical technology: together with the company VITRONIC Machine Vision GmbH, prototypes are currently being developed for the new BodyLoop 3D body scanner.
The BodyLoop was specially developed for use in orthopaedics, rehabilitation and competitive sports. Using high-resolution sensor technology and automated image processing, the device creates 3D models of the human body with millimetre precision – for precise diagnostics, movement analysis and the custom-fit production of orthopaedic aids. A predecessor model is already being used in the NFL, and the first BodyLoop prototype is to be delivered to an international sporting goods manufacturer.
The apt Group supplies tailor-made aluminum profiles for the system, which are manufactured in the competence centers for extrusion extrusion (pressing) and further processing. The profiles meet the highest requirements in terms of dimensional accuracy, surface quality and mechanical load-bearing capacity – while at the same time being lightweight and highly corrosion resistant.
The project underlines the growing importance of aluminum solutions in medical technology. Together with VITRONIC, further potential applications are already being examined, for example in the area of efficient cooling components.
