apt Group relies on partnership with ClimatePartner to reduce CO₂ emissions

Published on: 3. August 2023

The apt Group is consistently committed to sustainability and the reduction of CO₂ emissions in aluminum processing. As one of the leading companies in the industry, apt relies on transparent, scientifically based measures to reduce emissions and is guided by international climate protection targets.

Joining the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) in 2021 was an important milestone on this journey. apt is now ASI-certified and therefore meets the highest international standards for responsible aluminum processing. This certification not only confirms the sustainable handling of aluminum along the entire value chain, but also the commitment in the areas of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG).

In order to further reduce CO₂ emissions, the apt Group has developed a comprehensive climate protection strategy in collaboration with ClimatePartner. The aim is to reduce emissions in line with the 1.5-degree ambition level of the Paris Agreement and to operate in a climate-neutral manner in the long term. In doing so, apt relies on the continuous optimization of processes and close coordination with international sustainability standards.

Since 2021, apt has published a voluntary annual sustainability report that transparently documents the company’s progress and measures. The apt Group’s emissions are already well below the industry average – clear evidence of the effectiveness of the measures implemented.
“Each of our projects is assessed for sustainability and implemented in a targeted manner. Our aim is to play a leading role in the industry and make an active contribution to the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the European Green Deal,” explains Hubertus Schomacher, Head of Quality and ASI Manager at apt.

With this consistent sustainability course, the apt Group is strengthening its competitiveness and proving that economic success and ecological responsibility can go hand in hand.
